TENSHINSHO JIGEN-RYU HYOHO SATSUNANKAI

Tenshinsho Jigen-ryu Hyouhou (天眞正自源流兵法) is a Koryu Bujutsu,(traditional Japanese martial art) founded in 1508 during the Eisho-Muromachi period (1504 – 1521) by Kaiso Setoguchi Bizen no Kami Masamoto (1431 – 1518), a samurai from Joshu Kasama (present day Ibaraki prefecture). It is a comprehensive school of Bujutsu that teaches Kenjutsu & Iaijutsu (sword), Soujutsu (spear), Nagamakijutsu (a type of traditional made Japanese sword with an extra long handle) and Yawara (hand to hand combat). 

During the Sengoku period (1467 - 1603), this school was regarded as the secret weapon of Satsuma (present day Kagoshima); therefore it was hidden from outsiders until his 13th generation headmaster, Ueno Genshin, opened the doors of Shobukan dojo in 1964. 

The major characteristic of the system is "Ichi no tachi no gokui", the secret of the first strike, which is the "Tenchiichi no tachi", the secret sword of heaven and earth. Its unique form, is performed from Tonbo no kamae, the form of dragonfly. Using gravitation, weight transfer and precise techniques that are only taught through oral transmission. Ichinotachi has tremendous power and requires great speed. In fact, fast techniques are distinctive of the style and can be seen in the iajutsu movements constantly practiced.
